My Inver Stone and Fianna Stone lifts Today

Postby james grahame » Tue Dec 14, 2010 9:00 pm

Took the opportunity to lift two more stones between bouts of bad weather.

First the Inver Stone which went well. Then I had a nightmare trying to find the Testing Stone of the Fianna even though I had good directions from Peter Martin.
Glad I persevered though! It was a real challenge!

It is a real brute with an estimated weight of 300lbs. I can believe that! I tried to dry it a bit with my towel but still had managed to put my hand on some sheep s**t, which is where the swearing starts on the video.
I didn't know where the plinth was for the Fianna stone so I did a wee circle to prove to myself I could walk with it a wee bit.

Of the four I have lifted I would order them ( easiest first)

1. Dalwhinnie
2. Inver
3. Menzies
4. Fianna

Those have been a goal for a while but I just seem incapable of holding that 187kg in one hand. Driving me nuts.

I was tempted to do a strapped attempt but I damaged the cartilage in my left knee about 2 months ago and am still doing the rehab so even that is not possible just now. Probably for the best though, as i know I would feel dirty if I did a strapped attempt and I would have to ask David to close my account on this forum  For now I just have to accept that my grip isn't good enough.

I tip my hat to anyone who can lift the dinnies without straps and minimal warmups.

when we lifted the dinnies a few weeks ago there was talk of stopping the dinnie lifts as the larger hoop was becoming very corroded at the attachment point, a great shame if that happens
