Good stuff!

Don't try and lift the big stone like that. Leave it flat on the floor, lift it bearhug style, with your fingers on the flat underside. Hoist it on to your legs, and then reposition your arms around.
Right now you are trying to lift a 150k stone with arm strength alone.

Next time, I sniff a success!

Thanks David - good advice. I will have to practice the bearhug a bit more. They have a Celtic festival up there in a few months so I could be back soon.

This comp was the day after WSH in Melb which was why I missed it. Jarrod did a great job and got plenty guys there.

I competed at the East Coast Highland Games in NSW at the weekend where they have a dinnie-style carry. 125/145kg stones carried max dist in 90 seconds (multiple drops allowed. I got 6m83cm (the start of my attempt is missing) and Craig Reed got roughly 20m I think. Would have to check the scorecards.

I am really enjoying these challenges. Some guys are really good at these things and it makes the original dinnie walk more believable to me.

These stones came about when the molds for 2 atlas stones failed and created misshapen stones. Craig, used his noodle and made this challenge. One handle is a D-ring the other is a dinnie-style ring.

Took me a while to get back there and try the bearhug style. Still failed... but much closer this time. :roll:

I got carried away and had several goes picking it up as if for a shield carry before rembering your advice.

It was a bit of a dry run for the Dinnies to be honest. It is a 3 hour drive from Melbourne and there is just the two stones when you get there.

I did my Dinnie attempt today but it did not go as I wanted.

Had trained hard for a strapless attempt but didn't manage it. I practiced with your replica rings (which are fantastic) but the real stones move much more than oly plates did and it took me 4 attempts to even get close. In the end I only succeeded with straps.
