Re: Chalk for lifting stones?
The reason was, that a bottle of liquid stuff could be altered to include something more sticky. It just could open a can of worms. This was voted on many years ago.

Re: Chalk for lifting stones?
Peter,
I have chalk with me, but on various times the stones have ben wet, or as in the Dinnies when I did them first time it was raining and the Inver stone was covered in snow!!
We don't allow liquid chalk for any grip comps.
A towel to dry the stone is more effective.

Re: Criccieth Stone of Strength Challenge Day 2014
I run a grip contest at them, but there hasn't been one since 25 May, 2019, due to Covid.

Re: On holiday
Good stuff. There's always a gym near by, if there are stones around.

Re: Criccieth Stone of Strength Challenge Day 2014
Yes it is, a big smooth egg-shaped stone. No real gripping areas too.
Yes it does have a long history of being a strength test.

That stone looks really awkward to lift.
Does the Criccieth Stone have a illustrious history?

Criccieth Stone of Strength Challenge Day 2014
Les Wiltshire photo of one of my lifts of the 177.5k Criccieth stone. Stone of Strength Challenge Day. I lifted the 177.5k Criccieth stone six times to just under knees, attaining a level 1 lift, and lovely trophy. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/10486957_162499470105...
